Dear Annapolis Lutheran family, A year ago we were blessed to bring Emma Baker into our community as our music director. She brought fresh energy and immense talent to not only our music but our entire ministry. In a bittersweet turn of events, Emma has accepted a position at another congregation. We thank God for the time we had with her and wish her nothing but the best. Please read her full statement below: Dear Members of the ALEC Community, It is my deep regret to tell you that I will no longer be serving as the music director beginning in September as I have accepted another position at a church in Alexandria. If I could find any way to be at two places at once I would do it in a heartbeat. This is such a special congregation and it's incredibly difficult for me to leave. The timing of my departure is also difficult as I will not be in town for the next two weeks due to a death in the family. Wayne and Joyce have offered to cover for me and will be leading the music on August 15th and 22nd. I will be back on the 29th to play the last service of the month, but then I will need to go in order to begin my contract in Virginia. For those who may be wondering about the organ, it has been completed and will receive its final installation tuning towards the end of the month when I return. My replacement will be introduced to the technicians so that they can have them out to the church two or three times a year for general upkeep and seasonal tunings, so the organ should be in good shape. Pastor Mark has graciously told me that changing positions does not mean that I've forfeited my right to come visit the organ-or this wonderful community, so I hope to be around periodically to check in. It has truly been a blessing to serve this community for the past year and I wish you nothing but my very best. Adult Forum Join Pastor Mark in Discussing the Sermon and other Lectionary Text on August 22, and August 29 Bible Study Join the men’s Wednesday morning Bible study at 8:00 A.M. at the IHOP in Edgewater. There is also a Thursday Bible study in Crofton at Grumps Cafe at 7:00 A.M. Book Club The book club will reconvene in September of this year. Please plan to join us. Red Cross Blood Drive on-site August 11, 2021 As a community outreach, the Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive on our property on Wednesday, August 11 from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Anne Arundel County Back-to-School Program We are again supplying backpacks and schools supplies to students in need in our area. All backpacks and supplies need to be delivered to the church by Thursday, August 12th at 2:00 pm. Please call the church office at 443-837-6436 to coordinate drop-off times during the week. Meg will be in the church office from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M Monday through Friday to accept the drop-offs.
